We were totally inspired and in awe of the Bus Bar we saw in Windsor in the Summer of 2014, and after a lot of discussion, research and debate … we were SURE that Scotland needed something similar.
We searched, for what seemed like forever, for a vintage bus, that was in great condition and in full operational order – and that was worthy of the conversion that we had planned.
We found “Barney” in Somerset, in great order- both body wise and mechanically, and still in regular work aged 50+.
We enlisted the skills of local tradesmen to make our vision happen – in particular we must mention the work done by West Fab Engineering, Fenwick, Ayrshire, who along with other bodywork, created our bespoke slide back roof panels .. Perfect for when the sun does shine in Scotland – and close-able in seconds for when the rain appears.
Barney was built for Blackburn Corporation as one of the 12 new buses they purchased in the early 60’s and he remained in service throughout Lancashire until 1981.
The Blackburn Corporation retained him until 2005 as a heritage vehicle, where he appeared regularly at Vintage Rallies and Shows.
His owner prior to us, was a private collector, where he operated on a regular basis, including tourist trips and attending Vintage Rallies.
